This is stunning. Absolutely stunning. I adore the image of the parking lot!

I love this poem. I especially like the end, with "caressing the empty spaces." It's tough to write a poem this short and make it work so well.

This is lovely Sandra. Love the imagery and the caress.

It's great to see you poem-ing, Sandra. This is wonderful.

Ah, thanks everyone! (This was in regards to a draft called "Love Poem.") The encouragement makes this pace a lot easier.

Wow. Wow.
The sheep,
hustling across Wyoming shoulder to shoulder,
became one great blanket fevering the Midwest

Triple Wow.

Thanks! (These comments were in regards to a draft called "Plenty.") Carly, Long Island was a trip--a looong trip, and a good trip. More soon.

Radish King, I confess: I'm always looking for honorable excuses for more sheep in my poems.

Hey, thanks for the Alison Titus poem. It's stunning. Now I have to go look her up. Good luck on Sunday - family obligations prevent me from being there, but I'll catch up to one of them. Nice looking book.

Yay! I was totally addicted to Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was younger. I like this interpretation... FUN!

I enjoyed your poems over at AGNI online? Here's the link for other folks: http://www.bu.edu/agni/authors/S/Sandra-Beasley.html

Sandra said...

Oh, wow--thanks for the heads up on those AGNI poems! They were accepted way back when, then held up when the BU folks redesigned the website.

Sandra:

I have always loved the Isis/Osiris myth, and this is just an amazing poem which weaves in and out of the myth with elegance and ease. I know I am coming late to the party, but this is just incredible!

The imagery in this piece is strong. Great ending. Thanks for posting it.

Nice poem. I was looking for the other one, Oxidation(?); I was going to come back and read it again; now its gone.

Wonderful! I love that "hallelujah of croutons."

Sandra said...

Thanks, everyone--it's the home stretch and I can use the encouragement!

"mynamehere"--I keep the drafts rotating out frequently, so I can revise them in my own time and have them to submit to journals. So hopefully "Oxidation" will resurface sooner or later on the written page. = )

You elegantly weave together so many different threads here. Very nice.

I love your origami poem. I have written my own, but I think your oblique use of the subject matter is very compelling, and quite wonderful.

A fine poem.

Thanks for your comments at my blog, Sandra. I really liked your recent poem with the line "tea cured? This is raw..." etc. A wonderful and precise poem about relationships.
