Jiggedy-Jig

Home again, home again. Left Millay by way of Somerville (outside Boston), where in a truly strange and wonderful coincidence I ran into the Wave Books Poetry Bus Tour and Major Jackson...on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 4 the Bus heads to DC, where Barrelhouse will host it at The Big Hunt downtown. My friend Kyle (of UVA and recently, AU) will be temporarily hopping on board to read. Be there, or be square.

Sadly the ten-hour drive left me too exhausted to make the Baltimore Book Festival, which I hear was splendid. Give me a day or two to breathe and then, I swear, I'll be back in full form.

New manuscript title: "Theories of Falling"...

I like the title Theories of Falling.

FYI:

Doty's New and Selected which is supposed to come out soon--I guess in the next year or so (Don I. might remember)--will contain a bunch of "Theory of..." poems in the "new" section.

I will, alas, be square, perhaps as befits a person of my advanced years, as I have a reading elsewhere in DC that night.

The event sounds like great fun, though. I wish I were Bus-worthy.

I like the title, even if Theories might lead people to believe they're picking up Terry Eagleton or Focault. I'll be at the Bus event -- today's my birthday and I'm celebrating tomorrow with massive alcohol consumption. Be there or be triangle.

Really? I was just thinking how much I liked 'The Reveal' and how I wished I'd thought of it. If it must change, it must change!

Actually, for what it's worth, I like "The Reveal" better than "Theories of Falling."

Don, Happy Birthday!

Titles are so damn tricky, right? I certainly like "The Reveal," and I'll probably keep both MSs in circulation this year, so it was important that I keep one distinct from the other--both in terms of bookkeeping, and sanity. "The Reveal" just doesn't work as well for this newer version. I'm very intrigued to be reminded about those Mark Doty poems...the only other person with an allergy poem that I know of. Hmmm.

The Poetry Bus. The Big Hunt. Don's birthday celebrations. Finally, a reason to like Wednesdays!

PS--J.D., I don't think you're square...worst case scenario, you will be a parallelogram of absence. Good luck on your reading!

I like the new title, by the way.
