I mean, I do make the distinction. In this painting, the figure is obviously a woman to me, not a girl, as shown by the nakedness paired with the shoes, the posture, the hair, everything.

I've noticed it most prominently in poetry lately, that is women becoming girls in poems, even poems that are obviously about women (adult). I'm curious about it. It seems like a backward step in feminism to me and I always wonder where it comes from. Maybe it's just the time I grew up in.

RebeccaRadish Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06534752971317927559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12844162.post-49759059828597057562008-01-08T18:47:00.000-05:002008-01-08T18:47:00.000-05:00Not quite sure what you mean...a "girl" versus a w...Not quite sure what you mean...a "girl" versus a woman, Rebecca? I wasn't drawing a distinction between the two.

I suppose I'm a woman, but I refer to myself as a girl all the time, so I don't take it as an offensive term. I also quite frequently walk around naked in the mornings. Yet I'm always clothed by 10:55 AM at the very latest.Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02108785153248826337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12844162.post-77853368347078258872008-01-08T18:46:00.000-05:002008-01-08T18:46:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Scholar Connectionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11505403510590992214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12844162.post-17630157591763638222008-01-08T14:06:00.000-05:002008-01-08T14:06:00.000-05:00Why do you think she's a girl? Why do you think she's a girl?Radish Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06534752971317927559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12844162.post-89715773119014138312008-01-04T23:01:00.000-05:002008-01-04T23:01:00.000-05:00Happy New Year, Sandra!
